Ballet Shoes

It's the same thing every year, spring comes around and pastels start popping up everywhere. And as much as I love a blush jacket or a baby pink sweater on the hanger, the moment I put it on I feel like I'm wearing a Halloween costume. It's just too girly, too cutesy …too not me.  But  there are a couple of exceptions:  A pastel scarf is the perfect way to add some lightness to a winter coat, a blush bucket bag is one of the most versatile things you can own, and the one thing you really can't go wrong with are shoes:

I'm personally partial to the Keds, they are a fun spin on the white sneaker trend, and definitely just as versatile.  And those Nikes are so wonderfully 80s…

But if sneakers aren't your thing, look for men's wear inspired pieces like a classic pair of loafers or opt for a fresh take of the fringed bootie … and if all fails, there's always the tried-and-true ballet flat.

What's your favorite way to wear pastels?

In The Mood For Love

Holiday themed gift guides are always a little tricky. The stores are flooded with adorable heart print everything right now, but buying that pink heart shaped clutch just to wear it once before putting it into storage until next year is just a little ridiculous. That's why I kept it on the subtle side (as subtle as heart print can be), and only chose things that I think would work year round.

So no matter if you are shopping for a loved one or just want to treat yourself,  these Valentine goodies are sure to keep any heart fluttering:

Shoe Heaven

…quite literally.  I have a confession to make: I'm a grown woman who just bought another (yes another) pair of Taylor Swift Keds.  Is there anything more juvenile than buying something designed by your favorite popstar? I think not. Do I care? Definitely not.

Just look at them:

 Get them Here

They come in the form of the classic champion, the champion with a "triple" sole, and a slip on - which is what I opted  for.  I'm not an impulse buyer when it comes to shoes, but the second I saw the seagull print they went into my shopping basket (I wasn't even looking for new shoes!). The subtle print is perfect  for summer and the perfect way to show you're a fan without dressing head to toe in merch.

Would you wear them?

Happy Feet

Spring always means new shoes, and as much as I tried to talk myself into liking the running shoe trend, it just isn't for me. I love it on other people, but I just don't feel like myself if I'm wearing running shoes when I am not actually working out.

…But that doesn't mean that I'm opposed to sneakers all together, especially considering recent improvements:

Unbenannt #100
Vans  /Converse / Keds

I used to own a pair of gray Vans with a flamingo print, that were rather questionable, but I love the sleek look of the new leather versions.  They're understated enough to go with almost everything,  but still  kind of edgy – which is always a plus.

I've never been a fan of girly Converse styles (those ballet flats are the worst!), they just never look right, but the "Shoreline" might be their best invention yet!  They look exactly like  the classic ones, but the shorter tongue prevents that clown-shoe look, and the scrunched back ensures a perfect fit.

Keds, Keds, Keds, I'm not ashamed to admit that I own more than one of the designs from the Taylor Swift collection, which has less to do with my love for Taylor, and more with my love for stripes and anchors. While Vans and Converse can easily slip into juvenile territory if they have crazy prints, the classic nature of Keds is a little more forgiving, and I love how a cute printed shoe can add a little something extra to an otherwise plain outfit.

Call it Love

I've always loved Keds shoes,  they're comfy, cute, and come in a all the colors of the rainbow.
Unfortunately I live in a climate that doesn't allow me to wear them all year round.  Canvas shoes and freezing rain just don't mix.  So I was thrilled to discover their newest collection of leather oxfords:

The tan ones are perfection. They already have that faded look, and I think they'll only get better with age.  The tiny heel is a nice addition too, and don't get me started on all the fun options when it comes to the laces:

A shoe just isn't complete without a touch of leopard.

Wimbledon is not only about tennis, it is also about Fashion. But there's no reason to save your white skirts for the court:

Double D

This week's IFB Project is all about the greatest fabric of them all: denim!

At first I simply wanted to post an outfit of the day but there were just too many options, all of these looks did, however, include one item: my good old denim shirt.

I wasn't always a fan of denim shirts. I live in jeans, and in my opinion  the whole denim on denim look was just one pair of western boots away from a cowgirl costume - but I recently discovered how wrong I was, and now I find myself rocking the denim on denim style at least one a week.

All it took were the right accessories!
(and a little inspiration from J. Crew)

What's your favorite way to rock denim?
