Dino-mite

Maybe it's my inner six year old, but I am loving the current dinosaur trend! #RexyTheCoachDino has taken my heart (and the top position on my Christmas list) by storm and I just can't get enough of the little guy and his friends.  But since Rexy falls into the luxory category of gifts, I also included a couple of alternatives that won't break the bank:

How do you feel about this prehistoric trend?

ALL CAPS

I am loving the baseball cap trend right now. I mean, it's always been a go-to accessory for me, but the fact that it's actually in style means that there's a much bigger selection to choose from. From wool, tweed and velvet, over suede to satin… There's one for everyone and (almost) every occasion. I  think I'll need one of each:

Cami Time

Statement camis are one of my favorite wardrobe staples. They're just so easy to throw on with a pair of jeans, and – depending on the top – you're good for the farmers market or a night out.

And ASOS is usually my favorite place to shop for them, because where else would you find sequins, leopard, and lace on one top?

…But just in case that's a little too much for you there are, of course, many other options:

Still Sweater Weather

Spring is actually my favorite time to wear sweaters. Of course, they're still a winter staple, but I just think they work way better paired with a lightweight spring jacket than a heavy winter coat that's already bulky enough on it's own …and as a bonus they make it possible to break out that spring jacket  just a few weeks earlier. Because let's face it, once April comes around we'd all rather be cold than having to put on that parka one more time.

And bonus number two: There are so many new styles!

spring sweaters

No matter if you're looking for something classic, something that will actually keep you warm until the temperatures catch up to the calendar, or something that'll keep you cool if spring is already in full force in your part of the world (jealous!) there really is something for everyone (and every temperature).

Ballet Shoes

It's the same thing every year, spring comes around and pastels start popping up everywhere. And as much as I love a blush jacket or a baby pink sweater on the hanger, the moment I put it on I feel like I'm wearing a Halloween costume. It's just too girly, too cutesy …too not me.  But  there are a couple of exceptions:  A pastel scarf is the perfect way to add some lightness to a winter coat, a blush bucket bag is one of the most versatile things you can own, and the one thing you really can't go wrong with are shoes:

blush shoes

I'm personally partial to the Keds, they are a fun spin on the white sneaker trend, and definitely just as versatile.  And those Nikes are so wonderfully 80s…

But if sneakers aren't your thing, look for men's wear inspired pieces like a classic pair of loafers or opt for a fresh take of the fringed bootie … and if all fails, there's always the tried-and-true ballet flat.

What's your favorite way to wear pastels?

Sweater Time

Is it just me, or is it getting harder and harder to find  "Ugly Christmas Sweaters" that are actually "ugly"? Because these definitely don't fit that particular requirement:

Snow Purse

We interrupt the regular program to bring you the cutest  Christmas purse ever! (Ok, this is also the only Christmas purse I have seen, but it is pretty darn cute)

New Look Bag

This little snowman also makes a really cute giftbag for smaller presents, like this little mince pie lipbalm:

Shift Gear

There are few pieces that are as versatile as a classic shift dress,  even if it's leopard print like this little ASOS number:

Asos

Pair it with flat suede boots,  black tights, and an oversized cardigan for a casual look. With a navy blazer and riding boots for a more put together (maybe even office appropriate) look. Or with red heels, statement earrings, and a great coat for a holiday party.

So basically…

Ghoulish Trends

It's never too early to show some Halloween spirit. I'm not saying that you should start wearing costumes as soon as the leaves start to turn orange but a few ghoulish accessories won't hurt anyone.  And as always ASOS is the place to find them:

halloween

How amazing is the  Ouija board clutch? That paired with  the those slippers, some skinny jeans and a black chiffon top could even double as a Halloween party outfit for those who don't feel like dressing up.  And the Jack O' Lantern  socks are a must for any horror movie marathon.

Blue Collar

It's been three years since Lily Collins was last seen on the cover of ASOS magazine, but she's back for the October issue, and rockin' some of the coolest coats and jackets  I've ever seen:

pictures vis ASOS

How awesome is the blue bomber jacket with the fuzzy collar?  Even though the jacket isn't my style at all, I'm somehow drawn to it. It's just a very cool (more subtle) spin on the muppet fur trend, and a nice change from all the coats that look like someone skinned Elmo or the Grinch.

Check out the full spread and Lily's interview over on ASOS.COM

Early Weekend

The weekend's almost here, and to make the wait even shorter I figured I'd highlight some of the things that I am looking forward to this weekend. And hey, there's really no reason to wait if you've got the time now…

If you're like me and love S'Mores but aren't so crazy about the whole campfire thing, then you'll love this Skillet S'Mores recipe I found on Instagram:

I can't wait to try this. Yum.

I downloaded the  the Devil in the White City a while ago  but never got around to reading it. But this weekend, I will takle  the historical non-fiction book  that is set in Chicago during  the turn of the 20th century, and explores the world behind the 1893 Worldfair. Oh and there's a serial killer, because we all know that every good book needs a serial killer (or at least a friendly neighborhood sociopath).

Amazon

Since this is a fashion item it isn't really something I'd like to do, but it's certainly something I'd like to wear this weekend:

ASOS Sweater

It's a leopard sweatshirt. This thing should be tacky by default, but somehow it's not. And I already know that it'll look perfect with cropped black skinnies and tan flats.

Keep Cool

Is anyone else experiencing a heat wave? If the answer is yes, take a clue from Miss Moretz and protect your head with cute straw hat.

source

Long gone are the days when straw hats were reserved for little boys and gardening grandpas, just pick one in a cool color or design and you're good to play outside (or sit by the pool) all day long.

...ASOS has a fabulous selection, by the way…

Enjoy the sun!

Simply Emma

I love Emma Stone, her flawless style is the perfect mix of preppy, edgy, and casual. Basically,  if I could trade closets with a celebrity it would be Emma.

What I love most about her style is that she always looks polished - even when she's in washed out skinny jeans and a white tee:

What makes this work (besides her accessorizing skills), is the unexpected coat/sandals combo.  Just imagine the outfit with boots, not as glamorous right?

The best though? It's super easy (and not expensive!) to recreate Emma's look:

Spring Sweaters

Spring weather is the worst here. One minute  it's warm enough to go out in a cami, the next you find yourself wishing you had brougth your down coat along.  My solution? Loose knit sweaters that are light  in texture but still cozy enough to keep you warm.

Here are some of my favorites:

A cropped version from Asos  (on sale!)

Cream Cotton from H&M

And my personal favorite from J.Crew (loving the hood!)

Perfect Petals

Is anyone else obsessed with the Burberry petal clutch?

Burberry

Unfortunately I don't think I could ever justify buying one. But lucky for me ASOS has a pretty cute alternative:

Or how about this one from Savida (it also comes in fuchsia):

Bow-tiful

I have two weaknesses when it comes to sweaters: bows and back details, so it's no surprise that this little number from ASOS just made it to the top of my wishlist.

The bow detail, the open back, the creamy pink (although the black one's amazing too) – it's the perfect sweater. And I can already see myself pairing it with a chambray shirt, until it is warm enough to show a little more skin.

Simply bow-tiful...

Stylish Girls Love Baker Boys

I've been wanting a Baker Boy Cap for the longest time. I've never been big on base-caps, they're just too sporty for my style, and as much as I love real hats, they can be a pain to carry around at school. But the Baker Boy Cap is the perfect medium, it's structured enough to look good with a nice coat, but will survive being shoved into a bag. So naturally I didn't think twice when I saw one on ASOS:

And it looks like I'm not the only one who's loving them:

Cara Delevingne

Gift Guide: Cold Feet

Socks have a really bad reputation  when it comes to Christmas presents. But why is that? I for one love me a pair of funky (ok I mean preppy) overknee socks:

You don't even have to wrap them anymore!
