Garden Party III

I spent my day wandering through mud, looking at flowers, and eating overpriced cake…
It's Garden Life time, and here's a picture heavy post (just like every year):

Art Attack

I used to be quite the artist as a kid. I had art classes twice a week, spent most of my allowance on art supplies, and every inch of my room was covered with my creations.

The other day I stumbled across a few of these creations, including this one:

My "Crazy Owls” actually won the  first place in a contest (the prize was 50 bucks, which was a fortune for 8 year old me), and I like them so much (hey the owl trend still isn't over), that I'm thinking about getting them framed. I only need to find a place for them...

Do you still have your childhood creations?

Photo Op

I was looking at (actual) camera bags this morning, when Google showed me this:

This adorable "camera bag" is from Accessorize, and while it might not be big enough to carry a camera, it certainly has room for all the little essentials one needs to be camera ready at all times:

Just Another Saturday…

In need of a fun weekend activity? Look no further!

Remember Augustana?  Well, they have a new album out, and (aside from Boston, no one can touch that) I think it's their best work yet. So check it out while you go for a walk…

…and pick up the ingredients to make these amazing vegan scones:

You can find the full instructions here, and munch on them while you catch up on NBCs fantastic (trust me, I was skeptical too)  Rosemary's Baby Remake.

Real Estate

I always love Ted Baker's whimsical prints, but the brand's latest collection, which is inspired by London's beautiful Regency houses, is my favorite by far:

London? Architecture? Pastels? I'm in!

Thanks, Mom!

In honor of Mother's Day, here are three valuable style lessons I learned from my mom:

1) Comfortable and stylish are not mutually exclusive:
(in other words fleece vests are always a good idea)

2) Invest in timeless basics:

And Saint James is the best place to get them.

3) Don't buy cheap bags, but don't splurge on the latest it bag either - buy them used!

Consignment and thrift stores are your best friend!

What's a style lesson your mom taught you?

Screen Writing

I was thrilled to discover that one of my all time favorite books, Where Rainbows End, is being made into a movie!

The book has a rather unique format. The entire story, which spans almost 50 years, is solely told through letters, emails, and IMs, while the actual events that are discussed in these letters are left to the reader's imagination. I'm incredibly excited to see how this will translate to the big screen. The first teaser trailer doesn't give too much away:

…but it  looks like we are in for  a fun ride, and according to Where Rainbows End author Cecelia Ahern the movie also captured the story's sweet side:

 I can't wait!

Love, Rosie (after the book's US title) stars Lily Collins and Sam Claflin and will be released this October

From Me(t) to You

The Met Gala is my favorite fashion event of the year. I love seeing how designers and guests interpret the motto (this year's was White Tie and Decorations), who is daring enough to push the envelope, who plays it safe, and who goes too far...

Here are this year's highlights and a few tips on how to rock them if your invitation got lost in the mail (it happens every year...):

Lusting for Suki's Burberry Ballgown? Throw on this Mango cami with a pair of jeans for a casual but equally princessy look.

Emma Stone looked absolutely stunning in a pink Thakoon combo, and you can too in this little ASOS number.

Loving the subtle flower print on Hayden's Dennis Basso dress? Then you're also going to love these Topshop shorts.

And if Leighton's Pucci dress is a little too much for you, you can always opt for an embellished mini, this one's from Needle & Threat.

A Pollock for Your Paws

When it comes to nail polish, I've always preferred a more muted look. Neons just weren't my thing. But then I saw this look on the official Essie Twitter and couldn't resist:

source

This eye catching look is super easy to recreate:

1) paint your nails with a white base, and let it dry (it has to be completely dry,
you won't get the brush effect if it's still sticky).

2) Pick a color, and dab it on with a tiny sponge.

3) Let it the first color dry, and repeat with as many colors as you like.

4) Have Fun and tweet me your pics!
