Look For Less: Burberry Poncho

Here's the thing, while I usually have an "it's ok to splurge" philosophy when it comes to all things Burberry, I'm not going to spend my lifesavings on a glorified blankie  – even if it's monogrammed.

And thanks to Zara I don't have to.

Here's Olivia Palermo looking cozy in the Burberry poncho:

And here's  Zara's answer to it:

Zara Scarf

Sure the pattern's different, it's thinner, and  not as much of a statement piece as the Burberry one.  But it is a nice alternative, and who says you can't monogram a Zara scarf?

Fall Mix

I promised that these playlists would be a regular thing. So here are my favorite fall tunes. It's the usual eclectic mix and some Taylor Swift. Because she writes pretty things about autumn leaves:

The Prettiest Season

It's officially fall! And here's what I'm excited about:

1) Forever on ABC

If there is one show that I'm excited to watch this fall it's Forever. I usually need to see a couple of episodes until I'm hooked on a show, but I knew this was great before the opening credits were over.
Maybe it's my crush on Ioan Gruffudd, maybe the intriguing "Sherlock" meets "Unbreakable" premise, but either way I hope that "Forever" stands the test of time.

2) Fall Colors:

New Balance 410s

I love the sneaker trend, I hate the sneaker trend, seriously my opinion on this changes daily. But this week I'm pretty into it.  Especially because it's a great way to incorporate some color into your fall wardrobe.

3) All the pretty leaves

This is a no-brainer, but it goes well with the colors. And who doesn't love pretty leaves?

What are you excited about this fall?

Call it Love

I've always loved Keds shoes,  they're comfy, cute, and come in a all the colors of the rainbow.
Unfortunately I live in a climate that doesn't allow me to wear them all year round.  Canvas shoes and freezing rain just don't mix.  So I was thrilled to discover their newest collection of leather oxfords:

The tan ones are perfection. They already have that faded look, and I think they'll only get better with age.  The tiny heel is a nice addition too, and don't get me started on all the fun options when it comes to the laces:

A shoe just isn't complete without a touch of leopard.

Bright Palette

Burberry never ceases to amaze me, their shows are always the thing I'm most excited about during Fashion Week.  And this isn't even because of the  amazing designs, but because of the shows itself. From the sets, over the guest list (I love me some Jamie Campbell Bower), to the music – which was exceptional this year.  Up-and-coming  singer/songwriter  James Bay performed live on the runway:

This morning I had never even heard of him, and now I'm listening listening to his songs  on repeat (especially scars, scars is sooo good). And I'm already looking forward to watch him perform at the iTunes Festival on the 22nd.

But let's not forget the clothes:

I love how bright and colorful the collection is, it's fun without being ridiculous, and even the wildest pieces are still wearable. Some of my favorites were definitely the sheepskin lined denim jackets, and the  monogrammed mini "Bee Bag", which is perfect in every single way.

And how cute were the printed trenchcoats the tulle dresses?

Watch the show on Burberry.com and shop the runway until September 29th.

Little Gems

The internet can be such a fun place, one minute you're looking  up the weather and the next you're on Pintrest learning how to cook oatmeal Fugazi Style. Ian MacKaye's elaborate recipe only has nine steps, and time is measured in phone calls instead of minutes. 'Cause why not?

(View on Pintrest / Or open in new window)

Apparently it's from a 1989 issue of Flipside  …only on Pintrest.

What are some of your favorite Pintrest finds?

Literary Socks

Only a few weeks ago I blogged about Out of Print's awesome new composition book inspired collection, and  today I find this in my inbox:

I know it's a tad bit too early to think about  Christmas presents, but these socks are the perfect stocking (stuffer) for any bibliophile.

The socks come in a banned books design, that's not only hitting the mark fashion wise but also raising awareness, and an adorable library card print, that's just perfect for keeping your feet warm after you kick off your boots to get comfy with a new book.

Check them out (pun intended) at Out Of Print Clothing

Blue Collar

It's been three years since Lily Collins was last seen on the cover of ASOS magazine, but she's back for the October issue, and rockin' some of the coolest coats and jackets  I've ever seen:

How awesome is the blue bomber jacket with the fuzzy collar?  Even though the jacket isn't my style at all, I'm somehow drawn to it. It's just a very cool (more subtle) spin on the muppet fur trend, and a nice change from all the coats that look like someone skinned Elmo or the Grinch.

Check out the full spread and Lily's interview over on ASOS.COM

Look For Less: Taylor Swift

Happy Saturday!  After the rainiest and coldest August ever the sun finally came out  again, just in time to break out the shorts one more time before putting them away for good.  And if anyone knows how to rock  shorts in the fall it's Taylor Swift:

picture: Glamour

Seriously, how cute is this look? I've always had a thing for over-the-knee socks, but  never really considered normal knee socks a good look. They were just always a little too preppy for my taste (which says a lot coming from me). But paired with shorts, a loose oxford, and a matching hat, they're suddenly the coolest accessory around.  Thanks for changing my mind, Taylor!

Would you wear knee socks?

A Perfect Storm

We made it! It's September, which means it's officially ok to break out the boots, the plaid, and – obviously – the trenchcoats.

And talking of trenchcoats, have you seen Burberry's ad for their newest fragrance: My Burberry?
It's so simple, so sophisticated, and so wicked cool (Cara and Kate!!!):

Of course, it wouldn't be a campaign from the British superbrand without some social media gimmicks, and this time you can "monogram" a bottle and share it on twitter, pintrest or facebook.
How cute.

I have yet  to sample the actual perfume, but the website describes it as "the essence of a  London garden after the rain", and you all know I love me some rainstorms. Is it too early  to start that Christmas list?
